The Care Parent Intensive Support Program provides support and education to foster parents and caregivers who provide day-to day care to children and youth in their home.
Under the stewardship of Nechako Valley Community Services, a Care Parent Support Worker delivers service to these families within a team approach, helping them to develop and maintain a solid support system in the Foster Parent network .
Goals of the program are:
- To assist and support foster parents and caregivers in caring for children and youth in their care.
- To assist and maintain support systems in the Foster Parent network.
- To effect an increase in stability in placements for children and youth and decrease the need for multiple placements.
- To promote a decrease of incidents of challenging behaviours, decrease incidents of involvement with the youth justice system and decrease school suspensions and expulsions.
The program covers the communities of Fraser Lake, Fort St. James, Vanderhoof and surrounding areas.
